Drop-Off Tournament (DOT) Rules
1. Teams are made up of six players.
2. All players must wear the same coloured shirt and ideally be numbered.
3. Players can only play in one team.
4. The rules for a DOT game are the same as the current rules of a drop-off to decide the winner of a
normal Bnals game. All other normal rules of Touch apply.
5. Games are played on a normal sized Beld.
6. Teams start with four players each and play for two minutes.
7. Substitutions may occur as per normal rules of touch.
8. The team leading at the end of two minutes is the winner.
9. If teams are tied at the end of two minutes, teams remove one player from the Beld and continue until
the Brst try is scored. Once teams are reduced to three players the team that scores the Brst try wins.
10. Each game will run for a minimum of two minutes but may have a longer duration (generally 2-5
minutes) for a result to be determined.
11. The DOT is a modified knock-out tournament where teams will be given two “lives”. This means that a
team can lose twice and still remain in the competition, but once they lose a third game, they are
eliminated.
12. Teams will be gradually eliminated until two teams remain in each division.
13. The remaining two teams in each division will then play off in a grand final using the same drop-off
rules.
14. Unused “lives” cannot be used in the grand final.
15. Players must be registered financial players with NSW Touch Association/Touch Football Australia.
What to expect…
• A short, sharp and exciting version of Touch!
• A fun, laid-back atmosphere!
• Turn-around between games will vary but could be between 5 and 15 minutes to allow new fixtures to
be determined.
• Next round fixtures will be announced over the PA system – so listen carefully.
• Once announcements are made, games will commence in two minutes, so move to your allocated field
quickly.
• As a modified knockout the draw is different to a normal competition draw. Teams will NOT play every
team in their division. It is luck of the draw who you play in each round.
• Prizemoney for divisional winners (amounts depending on number of team nominations).
